St. Johns River Country has attractions and activities to suit the tastes of every visitor. Of course, there are plenty of parks and sanctuaries where visitors can learn about the plants and animals in our area. Visitors can also bowl, golf, or go horseback riding to round out an exciting trip to St. Johns River Country. Check out a few ideas here.

Blue Heron River Tours: Board the “Great Blue” and travel on a tour down the St. Johns River. A knowledgeable captain gives you the facts about the various types of wildlife that reside on the river. Enjoy numerous opportunities to take photos of Florida’s unique scenery.

Reptile Discovery Center: The Reptile Discovery Center has reptile exhibits both outdoors and inside. The indoor exhibit features a variety of exotic snakes, including cobras, rattlesnakes, mambas, and even an Angolan python. Be sure to make a stop at the gift shop to buy some keepsakes of your trip.

Blue Spring State Park is an appealing option for vacationers who love to hike, swim, scuba dive, or camp. This 2,600-acre park has manatees, storks, vultures, hawks, alligators, and more!

Fountain of Youth Eco/History Tours: This boat tour starts in DeLeon Springs State Park and takes guests into the Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge. Visitors have the chance to observe tri-colored herons, ospreys, alligators, and egrets along with many of the other animals that occupy the wildlife refuge.

Spring-to-Spring Trail: This trail is 26 miles long and takes visitors to DeLeon Springs State Park and Gemini Springs Park among others. Visitors can walk the trail, jog, rent a bicycle, or even put on some skates to enjoy the natural scenery!

Museum of Art in DeLand: This museum has both permanent and traveling art exhibits. Look at paintings by Jackson Walker that depict events in Florida’s history. Enjoy the DeLand sculpture walk and learn about the sculptures via an audio guide. Check the museum’s calendar and plan to attend one of its Family Fun Saturdays.
